WipBox - Craigslist Listing and Marketing Tool

Given the lack of quality research tools for Craigslist sellers, I was excited to test drive WipBox, a web-based service that offers research and listing tools for Craigslist as well as eBay.

The best part is that currently WipBox is free and is promoting a mobile version. Whilst it is free, the website is clearly supported by a lot of outside advertising. I also figured out how they attract traffic (but I'll get to that later). Building a new listing is easy and along the way you are offered a bit of data on other similar listings including price comparisons and the ability to read/borrow content from similar listings. Overall I found the pricing comparisons to often be incorrect, the keyword research portion is weak and unless you really fine tune your keywords you will not get accurate research.

You can only build one listing and select one city/category at a time. Obviously for the serious Craigslist seller this is not the most efficient way to post. However, it's worth a look for the research portion alone.

In the end you are able to post or download your listing. If you choose to post directly to Craigslist it takes you to your listing to review...which is where I realize how WipBox makes money. They tag your listing with an ad and link. I wonder how long CL will allow this company to do this. I guess so long as they do not facilitate spamming it may stick around long enough to offer us what we really need.

A comprehensive research or data set that helps us really learn more about buyers. That linked with the ability to easily post and manage multiple postings would be a dream come true.

So in conclusion, WipBox is one small step for Craigslist sellers…but wait to exhale, there is still much work to be done. However, test drive it for yourself: http://www.wipbox.com
