Craigslist announced that starting October 22, 2006 companies looking to place help wanted ads in San Diego, Seattle, Washington, D.C. and Boston will have to pony up a $25 fee to post. A fee is currently charged in New York City, San Francisco and L.A.

In a forum on its site, Craigslist said the fee is meant to weed out lower quality job listings at the site.

“In light of the accelerating overposting, spam, ‘get rich quick’ schemes and other quality issues we’re seeing on the job boards for these four cities . . . we’ve made a decision to start charging $25 for job postings,” the online posting announced.

Given that Craigslist makes it’s reported 10 million per year profit from job listings only, the change will surely add another 12-15 million to their bottom line.
