Craigslist Off the Hook for Housing Ads Dispute

Last week a federal judge ruled that Craigslist is not guilty of the alleged violations of the federal fair housing rules for ads that discriminate based on race, gender, family status, religion, etc. Craigslist is protected under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which shields providers and users of “interactive computer services” from liability so long as they make “good faith” efforts against objectionable material. For Craigslist, this is a victory for Internet self-publishers.
