Find a Craigslist Partner

Bookmark It:
Just like in the real world, businesses often partner to cross market products and services to their combined customer base. Finding complementary partners on Craigslist is actually quite easy. Here are some partnerships to consider:

Real Estate Agent – Photographer, Appraiser, Lawn Maintenance, Contractor, House Cleaner

Furniture Wholesaler – Moving Company, Carpet/Upholstery Cleaner, Electronics

House Cleaner – Childcare, Lawn Maintenance, Handy Man

Writer – Graphic Designer, Web Developer, Marketing

What do you see above – I see examples of full service businesses that with trusted partnerships are able to take care of a customer's every need. I also see great opportunities for the primary partner to make a decent sum from ongoing referrals.

To forge a partnership search for businesses in your area of interest on Craigslist and contact the ones that have compelling ads or that you recognize. Respond to their ad and give them a brief bulleted background, your goals for the partnership and how it can positively impact their bottom line. Don’t overwhelm them, as they probably already get hundreds of e-mails.

Once you get interest back you will want to make sure they have the same customer values as you. Now it’s time to research:

What is their reputation?
How long have they been in business?
How many customers do they have?
Can they provide you with testimonials?

Once you are confident you have synergy, figure out a referral agreement. Decide if you will pay by lead, sale or percentage of revenue. Get it all in writing with a simple contract or statement of agreement.

I cover this in further detail and many more opportunities to enhance your business with Craigslist throughout my book.
