Ask Shanon Question of the Week – Duplicate Craigslist Advertising

Bookmark It:

If I use a different e-mail address and change the ad substantially, can I post more often than every 2 days?

Honestly, in most cases, if you change the e-mail address you can repost without waiting 2 days. In this case you don’t even have to change the ad substantially, unless you plan to post multiple times a day. It may or may not get flagged depending upon the area you post and how active the flaggers are.

If I post properties in the same housing section, since they are all different can I post those all under the same e-mail?

This is totally acceptable. A certain amount of duplication is acceptable to Craigslist so you can still have the logo and name of the company, but showcase different properties using the same e-mail address in the same category or city. The only sticking point is when you want those exact listings to appear more often than every 2 days or in multiple categories or cities. (see above for more details)

Side Note:

I do not advocate spamming Craigslist, but I understand that some cities are so active now that to get any kind of traction you have to post at least daily. This is especially true with Craigslist real estate marketing. Still, keep in mind that after awhile consumers in your region will come to recognize your spam and mentally filter it out. Be creative with your Craigslist advertising, try new things. You may get flagged you may not. Unless you are being overt or abusive you will not get banned.

There are very creative ways to launch an aggressive and active campaign that converts – just posting listings actively is only one part of what works. Explore other options by reading my book. Learn More>>
