Crack Down on Fraudulent Apartment Brokers in NYC

Craig Newmark, who already spends so much time trying to weed out fraudulent or questionable use of Craigslist.org, is working with NYC officials to crack down on deceptive apartment brokers in NYC. A City Council report last week said that approximately 31% of “no broker fee” ads are lying.
New York City’s real estate market is unlike that of any other city. The competition is fierce and unfortunately, renters have increasingly been lured through ‘bait and switch’ into deals that are too good to be true.
